With 100 million measured visitors a year, Times Square is probably the most active public space on Earth. Its less than 3 acres of open space welcomes dozens of events per year and the giant screens that envelop it are the window of the world's market economy.
It falls on the Times Square Alliance to manage this exceptional space, and harness its chaos for the enjoyment of its very diverse users, using all private funds. From maintaining the pavers of its Snohetta designed plazas to managing access for the crews repairing the giant jumbotrons, offering concessions to the public, presenting thought provoking art and -yes!- producing the New Year's Eve extravaganza, all that happens in Times Square is thanks to the work of its management organization.
For Times Square, we were an essential part of the programming of the spaces, with additions such as Design Pavillion or the Times Square Design Lab. We also created the Showglobes, connecting outdoor displays to holidays and adding yet one more memorable amenity to this fantastic place. Times Square is a perfect example of how Town Square can channel the essence of what your space is offering and how to best monetize it.
