The "Park in the Sky" and its journey from neighborhood eyesore to model of urban amenity are now known the world over. Less so is the fact that, just as was the case at Bryant Park, the transformation process of the former elevated railway was conceived, executed, and partly financed by an independent "Conservancy" type organization: Friends of the High Line.
Today, the High Line welcomes more than eight million people per year. It is also a symbol of industrial reuse and the ultimate example of the impact quality public space can have on neighborhood identity and real estate values. It is fair to say that the High Line was the catalyst for the transformation of the West side of Manhattan and has come to be seen as the greatest project of the Bloomberg era, somewhat of a "golden age" in the City.
Behind the beautifully landscaped park; a pioneer in New York in the use of local perennials to create beauty, lies a sophisticated operation in charge of fundraising, maintenance, sponsorship, event planning, merchandising, art, education, design and land use. Our team was at the heart of it and will be able to use the expertise gained working for the Friends on your behalf.
